When a film makes millions on a budget of a few thousand dollars you know a sequel, warranted or not, is right around the corner. Audiences who ate up the first installment of the found footage-based franchise were treated to a second helping this past Halloween when Paranormal Activity 2 was released. While not a fan of either film, I can say that the sequel was a vast improvement over the original though both films had the same fatal flaw – they weren’t scary. Now comes word from creator Oren Peli himself that Paranormal Activity 3 is scheduled for an October 21, 2011 release. There are no details on the film’s plot or returning characters, but I think it’s safe to say the third entry will pick up where the second left off.
