Why the hell am I reviewing a film that was released in 2001? I’d ask the same question if the producer didn’t explain that this movie is now getting the release it solely deserved-almost 10 years later. The director had some hard times tryin’ to get the film out to a larger audience, and to no avail. So steps up producer Charles Mariotti to save the day-hence me coming in to do the job that I love to do, review these indie soaked movies.
OK, this is quite a simple film really. John (Corey Feldman) is havin’ a party with a bunch of his buddies- a little drinkin’, a little smokin’. Then……… they all gang up on him to tell them the story, or should I say, the spirtual adventure he had when him and his brother were younger. “Let’s have a Seance John” they keep pestering him with so Aater repeated tormenting from his buds, he falls prey to their ridicule and sets up a seance to bring back the soul that once abused their innocent lives. John calls on the boy who tormented him……………… and his brother to no humanity………to show himself………talk to them……… ssssshhhhhhow them signs. Candles blow, serious warps ensue and then they fantasticly transported within the same dimension, just somewhere else to witness a butchery in progress, some serious bloodshed. They snap out of it…….. back to reality, and try to go on their day to day after that? Good fuckin luck. So the story goes from one friend to another, dying horribly in CGI styled deaths. So pretty much there ya go in a handbag, what else happens during the film is up to you to watch. I hate spoilers and I will not let you in on anything other than the basics gist ya dig! So screw you.
A pretty average plotline and all, overacted characters, halarious CG work (I didn’t realize it was 2001 till after so now I get the era of graphics), and Corey Feldman in the dramatic role of a lifetime. So having the biggest crush on the Cory’s back in the day, Licence to Drive honey, it was fun to watch the thrillride of manslaughter with they ole’ Felder himself. I wouldn’t really call it a serious film, it tries to be, but 10 years later it doesn’t really matter. Just watch the damn thing.
